Yoga isn’t what it used to be!
Yoga isn’t what it used to be, and that’s good news!
Twenty one years into my career, I describe my classes as “Yoga for healthy aging”. Classes are designed to help you build and maintain strength, improve balance, develop greater body awareness, and build a strong core.
The landscape looked a lot different two decades ago. A typical class was 90 minutes, and was structured to get you moving quickly, work up a sweat, and practice advanced poses. I have many fond memories of these days, but things have evolved over here! As I’ve gained experience, logged hundreds of hours of advanced training (more on that here) and taken a few more trips around the sun, I’ve reprioritized my approach. My goal has always been to help people feel better in their body. Over the years I have restructured classes to do that more effectively. Today, I have little interest in fancy poses or how much you may sweat, and far more interest in utilizing the practice to help you move with more ease and comfort. My classes have more options to meet you where YOU are at.
I’m committed to helping you get the most out of your practice!
Many of you have been with me through this evolution, if you haven’t seen me since Sunday mornings with Bob Marley, I invite you to join me for a class soon! Don’t worry if you’re feeling rusty, I’ve got options and encouragement for you! You can also check out my free yoga 101 mini-series.
Here’s another cool thing to emerge. Science is catching up, there are many more studies on the benefits of yoga. Here’s a few links to learn more if you are interested.
